Breno Virícimo is a bassist, guitarist and composer born in the southern region of Brazil. He started learning Brazilian songs on guitar at the age of 12 and has always played since. He came to Amsterdam to study double bass and has since developed into a versatile musician and composer.
Femke Smit is Dutch, but she sings Brazilian music as if she was born there. It may have been a past life or just a strange coincidence, but when she sings Brazilian music she feels at home. Femke studied Jazz vocals at the conservatory of Amsterdam, where she met Breno. They connected musically and have played together ever since. After her studies Femke went to Brazil for 3 months to soak up the Brazilian culture. She went to rodas de samba almost evening night and she fell in love with Samba. When she came back she missed Brazil so badly that she started her own project called Roda da Holanda together with Breno to bring the Brazilian roda to the Netherlands.
On this evening in MixTree they will explore the rich flavors and emotions that Brazil and it’s music have to offer in a more delicate duo setting. From MPB to Bossa Nova and of course Samba, they will play their favorite songs that hold a special meaning for them.
