Cassatelle – traditional Sicilian dessert from Trapani. Usually it is filled with sweet ricotta.
Due to the Arabic influence people also make them with homemade hummus. Together with: sugar, cinnamon, candied zucchini, coffee and chocolate. The dough is made of marsala and orange peel.
Similar recipes have been present for more than 1000 years.
